Jen Cummins (born 1975) is an Irish Social Democrats politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin South-Central constituency since the 2024 general election.
Cummins was previously a member of Dublin City Council, having been elected in June at the 2024 local elections for the South West Inner City electoral area.
Education and career
Cummins studied at Maynooth University, Trinity College Dublin, and Dublin City University (DCU), where she earned a Doctorate in Education. Her doctoral research focused on the experiences of young people who left mainstream education before completing the Leaving Certificate.
She worked extensively in education and youth services. From 2007, Cummins was Coordinator of the Ballymun Anseo School Completion Programme, a DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) initiative aimed at supporting students at risk of early school leaving. She also lectured in ethics and religious education at DCU and served as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Educate Together.
Personal life
Cummins lives in the Liberties with her husband, Dietmar Weiss, and their four children. She is a graduate of Maynooth University, Trinity College Dublin, and Dublin City University.
